New Teardrop Trailer for Greener Distribution

We’re always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and be more eco-friendly in the way we manufacture and distribute our furniture. Therefore we are excited to announce that we have just taken delivery of a new aerodynamic teardrop trailer from Don-Bur.

Aerodynamics can account for up to 50% of fuel consumption and the profile of the Teardrop trailer helps reduce drag and turbulence significantly. Turbulence commonly happens in the tractor-trailer gap, the shape of the trailer reduces this by being more in-line with the truck to allow air to flow over it more fluently.

This in turn reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Don-Bur have given this example of how reducing fuel consumption impacts emissions: “One combination travelling 60,000 miles per annum at 8.5 mpg will consume 32,080 litres of diesel and generate 84.37 tonnes of CO2. A 10% reduction in fuel use will cut CO2 emissions by 8.4 tonnes.”
